MUMBAI – Web Desk: The producer of the film “Kala Harn” has torn up Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s legal notice on camera, in a dramatic response that has gone viral on social media, according to Indian media reports.
The controversy began when the film’s poster was released, featuring a character holding a gun and wearing a bracelet similar to the one famously associated with Salman Khan, with an announcement that the film’s trailer would be released on June 20. Khan subsequently sent a legal notice demanding the immediate removal of all posters and promotional material, arguing that the film appears to be inspired by his old poaching case, violating his personality rights, potentially damaging his reputation, and influencing the pending trial.
Film producer Amit Jani called the notice an intimidation tactic, stating it was meant to scare and silence him through fame and influence. Jani also claimed that since the film’s announcement, he has received death threats from Khan’s fans and an alleged D-company. In a video statement, Jani tore up the legal notice on camera, saying, “What should I reply to this notice? Here is your answer.”
Khan was accused alongside other artists of hunting a rare blackbuck during a film shoot in Jodhpur in 1998, leading to a case filed by the Bishnoi community. The trial court sentenced him to five years in prison, but the sessions court later granted him bail. In 2022, the Rajasthan High Court approved the transfer of the case, which remains pending.
