Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: A sessions court in Lahore has granted interim pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of Provincial Assembly Saqib Chadhar in a cyber harassment case filed by actor Momina Iqbal.
The court restrained authorities from arresting the lawmaker until June 24 after hearing arguments from both sides. The decision was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmed Sheikh.
The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) following a complaint alleging cyber harassment, stalking, intimidation and blackmail.
According to the FIR, the accused and his wife were involved in a sustained online campaign targeting the actor after she rejected a marriage proposal. The complaint further alleged the use of threatening messages, attempts to access private data, and circulation of alleged explicit material without consent.
Investigators also claimed that digital devices linked to the accused showed signs of data deletion before forensic examination, though some evidence was later recovered from seized electronic media.
The FIR invoked multiple provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, along with sections of the Pakistan Penal Code relating to criminal intimidation, cyberstalking and evidence tampering.
The case has drawn significant public attention after the actor raised concerns on social media, alleging prolonged harassment and threats, and appealing for legal action.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and further developments are expected as forensic analysis continues.
