BEIRUT – Web Desk: Hezbollah has rejected the new US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, calling it “hypocrisy,” while Israeli attacks continue on various areas of Lebanon despite the ceasefire announcement, according to international media.
Lebanese and Israeli officials had agreed to a ceasefire in Washington through US mediation, but Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem declared the agreement unacceptable, stating that as long as Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, northern Israel will remain under Hezbollah’s attack range. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 3,526 people have been killed and over 10,733 wounded in Israeli attacks since March 2.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement saying that peace cannot be established in the region until Israel withdraws from Lebanese territory, adding that the issue of ending the Lebanon conflict is also part of ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington. Analysts suggest that Hezbollah’s rejection of the ceasefire has dimmed prospects for reduced tensions in the region, with the situation involving Lebanon, Israel, and Iran remaining a major challenge for Middle East peace and stability.
