Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s security forces have killed six militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in Panjgur district of Balochistan, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the operation was carried out on June 3 and 4 after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of militants linked to what it described as “Fitna al-Hindustan.” Security forces engaged multiple militant hideouts during the operation, leading to intense exchanges of fire in which six militants were killed.
According to the ISPR, a cache of weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and vehicles was recovered during the operation. The statement said the slain militants had allegedly been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
The military added that sanitisation operations are continuing in the region to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam remains ongoing, with authorities stating that efforts will continue to eliminate militancy and strengthen national security.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the operation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to combating terrorism.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security personnel, describing the operation as a significant success in preventing militant activities in Balochistan.
The latest operation follows a series of intelligence-based actions across multiple districts of Balochistan, including Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar and Kech, where security forces recently reported the killing of 17 militants and the recovery of weapons and explosives.
