LAHORE – Web Desk: Pakistan has decided not to participate in the Asian Fencing Championship scheduled to be held in India, according to Pakistan Fencing Federation Secretary Usman Ahmed.
The organizers did not provide clearance or visa guarantees from the Indian government, leading the federation to decide against traveling to India. Organizers have provided clearance documents to athletes and officials from other countries, but Pakistan has yet to receive any such documentation. The federation was advised to contact India’s Ministry of Home Affairs directly.
Ahmed stated that the Indian Fencing Association and organizing committee were contacted twice regarding clearance, but no assurance was given. “They replied that they cannot guarantee visas or clearance,” he said. The Asian Fencing Championship is scheduled from June 18 to 24 in New Delhi.
