(Web Desk) – Pakistani authorities reported multiple attacks by militants linked to the Taliban in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, triggering military counteroperations in which officials claim dozens of militants were killed.
Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that assaults targeted several locations in northern Balochistan, including districts such as Qila Saifullah, Noshki and Chaman. According to his briefing, militants attempted ground incursions at 16 sites and opened fire on security positions at 25 additional locations. All attacks were repelled, Tarar said, resulting in the deaths of 27 suspected militants and injuries to several others.
Security forces reported casualties among personnel as well. Officials confirmed that one member of the Frontier Corps Balochistan (North) was killed and five others wounded while defending positions.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities said militants attempted a ground assault at one site and launched fire attacks at 12 locations. Those operations were also repelled without reported security force casualties. Tarar added that follow-up operations were under way, claiming 40 militants were killed during overnight engagements.
The military has not independently verified casualty figures, and there was no immediate statement from the Taliban regarding the allegations.
Tensions along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated in recent months, with both sides accusing militants of cross-border activities. Pakistani officials maintain that operations aim to secure territory and eliminate threats to civilian and state security.
Authorities said a detailed operational update would be released later as assessments continue.
