Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and defeat foreign-sponsored proxies through a strong, decisive military response.
Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said Pakistan’s armed forces will defeat the designs of foreign-sponsored proxies through a strong and decisive response, as he reaffirmed the military’s commitment to lasting peace in Balochistan.
Addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop on Balochistan at General Headquarters (GHQ), the Field Marshal said sustained public support remains central to achieving durable peace in the province, noting that security forces and law enforcement agencies continue their relentless efforts toward that goal.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s determination to completely eliminate terrorism and its facilitators from the country. He said targeted operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan would continue with full resolve until their networks are dismantled.
The army chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to dismantling the infrastructure of terrorism that threatens the country and its people. He said foreign-sponsored proxies had attempted to destabilise peace in Balochistan by fuelling violence and undermining stability, but stressed that the armed forces would not allow such efforts to succeed. This has not been independently verified beyond the ISPR statement.
Field Marshal Munir described Balochistan as the pride of Pakistan, calling it a province rich in natural resources and blessed with patriotic people whom he termed its greatest strength. He said the loyalty and resilience of the local population remain a key asset in the province’s long-term stability.
The Field Marshal also highlighted ongoing development initiatives being carried out jointly by the federal and provincial governments in Balochistan. He said these projects aim to transform the province’s socio-economic landscape by directly addressing the needs and aspirations of local communities.
Speaking on the broader national outlook, the army chief underlined the importance of national unity and steadfastness in charting the country’s future direction. He said collective resolve among institutions and citizens alike would be essential in navigating current security and economic challenges.
Participants of the workshop, in turn, reaffirmed their shared commitment to Pakistan’s stability, development and sovereignty, according to the ISPR statement.
The National Workshop on Balochistan is held periodically at GHQ, bringing together stakeholders to review the security and development situation in the province. Balochistan has witnessed intermittent violence linked to separatist and militant groups in recent years, prompting continued counter-terrorism operations by security forces.
The renewed pledge comes amid ongoing military operations across Balochistan and other parts of the country targeting militant networks. Officials have repeatedly linked recent unrest in the province to external actors seeking to exploit local grievances for their own strategic objectives, though specific details of these claims have not been independently verified.
Analysts say the military’s continued emphasis on both security operations and development spending reflects an attempt to address the twin drivers of unrest in Balochistan — militancy and economic deprivation. The coming months are likely to see continued focus on both fronts as the government pushes forward with infrastructure and development projects in the province.
