SYDNEY – Web Desk: Ahmed Al-Ahmad, the man hailed as a hero for saving dozens of lives during a deadly attack on Bondi Beach last year, has been charged with allegedly assaulting his father, according to international media reports.
The 44-year-old, who gained fame after disarming an attacker during a mass stabbing that killed 15 people and injured many more in December 2025, now faces a new legal battle. New South Wales Police reported receiving a complaint in March 2026 about an alleged assault at a home in Sydney’s Bankstown area. Following an investigation, a 44-year-old man was charged with assault and stalking or intimidation this week.
While police did not name the accused as per standard procedure, Australian media outlets, including the national broadcaster ABC, have reported that the person named in the case is Ahmed Al-Ahmad. Al-Ahmad has denied the allegations, calling them “false information” and stating he has no knowledge of the matter.
Al-Ahmad became a global figure in December 2025 when he snatched a gun from an attacker during the Bondi Beach rampage, which Australian authorities described as an antisemitic terrorist attack. He was celebrated across Australia, met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and a fundraising program raised over $1 million for his support. Al-Ahmad is currently focusing on his health and intends to undergo further surgery on his arm, which was injured during the attack. The next court hearing is scheduled for June 29.
