Iran Lays More Naval Mines in Strait of Hormuz: Report

Date:

Washington, D.C., United States – Web Desk: U.S. official and sources familiar with the matter, says Iran has deployed additional naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz this week.

According to the report, the mines were laid by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, raising concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.

Following the development, U.S. President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the U.S. Navy had been instructed to take decisive action against any Iranian vessels involved in laying mines.

The reported deployment of additional mines could heighten risks to global shipping and potentially disrupt oil supplies, adding pressure to international energy markets already sensitive to geopolitical tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key chokepoint through which a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments passes, making any escalation in the region a matter of global economic concern.
