Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he had been diagnosed with a serious medical condition, which he kept private for nearly two years amid regional tensions.
According to his annual medical report, shared publicly by the prime minister, Netanyahu, 76, was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2024 and subsequently underwent surgery. Officials said he recovered well following the procedure.
Follow-up examinations initially showed no complications. However, a recent check-up detected a small tumor, measuring less than one centimeter, in the prostate.
Netanyahu stated that he opted for immediate treatment upon learning of the recurrence, emphasizing the importance of early intervention. He later clarified that the tumor was non-cancerous and had been successfully removed, with no remaining signs of the condition.
The Israeli leader also confirmed that the medical update was delayed by approximately two months. He said the decision was made to avoid providing an opportunity for adversaries to exploit the information during heightened tensions related to the conflict involving Iran.
The disclosure comes as Israel remains engaged in a volatile regional security environment, with heightened political and military sensitivities influencing public communications.
