Iran to Waive Strait of Hormuz Fees for Friendly Nations

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran will not charge toll fees on oil tankers from friendly countries passing through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Russian sources familiar with the matter.

The assurance comes a day after Tehran announced that toll revenues collected from vessels transiting the strategic waterway would be deposited into the central bank.

An Iranian parliamentary deputy speaker earlier confirmed that the first tranche of toll income had already been transferred to the central bank’s account.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, and any policy shifts related to shipping or tariffs are closely monitored by global energy markets.

The latest move is seen as part of Iran’s broader strategy to balance economic measures with diplomatic signaling toward allied or friendly nations amid heightened regional tensions.
