Washington, USA – Web Desk: The US military has targeted a suspected drug-smuggling vessel in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, according to military officials. The strike is part of an intensified campaign that began in September 2025 to disrupt narcotics trafficking and weaken armed networks linked to terrorist-designated organizations.
A US military spokesperson stated that the vessel was operating in a region of the Pacific where illegal drug shipments have significantly increased in recent months. The ship, believed to be part of an international smuggling network, was destroyed in the operation. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed.
The strike was carried out under the Joint Task Force Southern Spear, which aims to prevent the international movement of narcotics and disrupt the financial operations of armed smuggling groups. Since September 2025, US forces report nearly 150 fatalities and the destruction of dozens of smuggling vessels in the Pacific and adjacent maritime routes.
US officials claim that these actions have significantly impacted the flow of illegal drugs and disrupted the funding of associated criminal organizations. However, some human rights groups have raised concerns over potential violations of international law and civilian safety in the ongoing operations.
