ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority> (OGRA) to implement a modern digital system aimed at improving transparency and eliminating hoarding and profiteering in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector.
The directive was issued during a meeting in Islamabad with a delegation led by the World Bank Country Director, where policy recommendations related to the country’s energy sector were presented.
Committee to Review Recommendations
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz instructed officials to establish a committee to review the World Bank’s policy recommendations and examine their implementation.
The committee is expected to assess the proposals and submit recommendations for improving governance and efficiency in the sector.
Digital Monitoring for Oil and Gas Sector
The prime minister also instructed OGRA to activate a modern digital monitoring system to strengthen transparency throughout the oil and gas supply chain.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the initiative is intended to curb hoarding, discourage profiteering and improve regulatory oversight of petroleum products.
