Rome, Italy – Web Desk: The United States has confirmed that the next round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will take place in Rome from August 4 to 6, in a bid to reduce regional tensions and advance a framework agreement for southern Lebanon .

Mediated Talks

The negotiations will be held under US mediation, with delegations from both Israel and Lebanon participating. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had earlier announced the dates for the new round of talks .

Key Agenda

Discussions are expected to focus on Israel’s planned phased withdrawal from two pilot zones in southern Lebanon, as well as broader security arrangements and the implementation of the existing framework agreement. That agreement, established after the outbreak of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in March 2026, aims to end the war, disarm Hezbollah, deploy the Lebanese army in the south, and ensure a gradual Israeli withdrawal .

Regional Significance

Analysts say the Rome talks could prove crucial for de-escalation in the region. If progress is made, the talks could improve the security situation in southern Lebanon and reduce border tensions. US officials say the talks will also cover the ceasefire framework, border security, and future diplomatic measures .
