Sindh High Court seeks written report from K-electric over unannounced load-shedding

Date:

The Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench has directed K-Electric to submit a written report by November 13 after lawyers complained that prolonged power cuts were disrupting work at Asad Chambers.

KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: The Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench has sought a written report from K-Electric over complaints of unannounced load-shedding at Asad Chambers, where lawyers say repeated power outages have severely disrupted their professional activities.

During a hearing on Friday, November 6, the court directed the electricity provider to submit its written response by November 13.

K-Electric Assures Court of Action

During the proceedings, a lawyer representing K-Electric informed the court that the electricity connection at Asad Chambers had been transferred to another feeder.

The company’s lawyer also assured the court that load-shedding at the premises would be ended.

Following the assurance, the court directed K-Electric to submit a written report detailing the situation at the next hearing.

Lawyers Complain of Daily Power Outages

The petitioners told the court that electricity interruptions were occurring during important working hours, affecting their professional activities.

According to the application, power supply was suspended from 12pm to 2pm and again from 5pm to 6:35pm.

The lawyers maintained that the repeated outages were causing serious disruption and mental distress despite having no outstanding dues payable to K-Electric.

They further stated that they had repeatedly contacted the company’s administration and provided the requested information, but their complaints had not produced the desired results.

NEPRA Complaint Also Failed to Bring Relief

The petitioners also informed the court that they had brought the matter to the attention of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

However, they claimed that the regulatory complaint had not resulted in any effective relief.

The lawyers therefore approached the Sindh High Court, seeking intervention against the continued electricity interruptions.

Next Hearing on November 13

The Sindh High Court has directed K-Electric to submit its written report on November 13.

The company’s response is expected to provide further details about the feeder change and the assurance to end load-shedding at Asad Chambers.

The matter remains under judicial consideration.
