UK PM Starmer Rejects Airstrikes for Regime Change Abroad

Date:

London, UK – Web Desk: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has affirmed that the UK does not support changing foreign governments through airstrikes, emphasizing adherence to international law.

Speaking in Parliament, Starmer said the decision not to directly participate in U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran was based on legal and ethical considerations. He stressed that historical experience shows military action must have clear legal justification before deployment.

Starmer also confirmed that British forces will not engage in any operations unless they are fully compliant with international law. However, the UK has allowed U.S. forces to use British military bases for defensive operations against Iranian missile sites, a move that has drawn both domestic criticism and international attention.

The Prime Minister faced internal political pressure for permitting U.S. base usage, even as his initial refusal to join combat operations was widely praised. U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly expressed frustration over the UK’s cautious stance on military involvement.
