Doha, Qatar – Web Desk: Qatar’s Air Force has claimed it shot down two Iranian Sukhoi SU-24 fighter jets after they reportedly violated Qatari airspace, officials said Monday. The incident occurred despite prior warnings issued to Tehran.
According to a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Defence, the jets were intercepted as they advanced toward Qatari territory. In addition, Qatar said it successfully destroyed seven ballistic missiles and five drones launched by Iran, preventing any from reaching their intended targets.
Qatar condemned the incursion as a “dangerous and irresponsible act,” emphasizing its right to defend national sovereignty.
In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson asserted that Tehran has full rights to defend its sovereignty and regional integrity in reaction to U.S. and Israeli attacks.
The escalation comes after U.S. and Israeli strikes in Iran killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and several senior military officials. Iran retaliated by targeting U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
