Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has warned the European Union that heavy tariffs will be imposed on European products if a new trade agreement with Washington is not finalized by July 4.
Trump increased pressure on European leaders after ongoing discussions among EU governments and lawmakers reportedly failed to produce consensus on the proposed trade framework.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said he had informed the President of the European Commission that the United States wants a trade deal completed before America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. He warned that failure to reach an agreement would result in “strong trade measures” against the European Union.
The warning comes just days after Trump announced plans to raise import tariffs on European cars and trucks to 25%, a move that has already sparked concern across European political and business circles.
Analysts say the escalating rhetoric could intensify tensions between Washington and Brussels at a time when global trade markets are already facing uncertainty over tariffs, inflation, and supply chain disruptions.
