Washington, United States – Web Desk: Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts during the Iran conflict received major international recognition after a resolution supporting Islamabad’s peace initiatives was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The resolution, presented by Congressman Al Green, described Pakistan as a “neutral and reliable mediator” during the Iran crisis and praised its role in facilitating diplomatic engagement between the parties involved.
According to the text of the resolution, Pakistan played a significant role in maintaining communication channels, encouraging ceasefire efforts, and promoting constructive negotiations aimed at reducing regional tensions.
The resolution also acknowledged Pakistan’s hosting of diplomatic delegations and the special arrangements made to support dialogue and peace talks. It noted that Pakistan endured disruptions, including temporary closures in several cities and other logistical challenges, in an effort to support regional stability and prevent further escalation.
The document further highlighted the humanitarian and economic consequences of the Iran conflict, stating that thousands of people were killed and millions displaced. Citing international estimates, the resolution said nearly 3.2 million people had been displaced as a result of the ongoing crisis.
Lawmakers also noted that the conflict had significantly impacted global energy supplies and fuel markets, with daily war-related costs estimated at nearly $1 billion.
The resolution emphasized that ending the conflict is in the interest of both the region and the wider international community, while recognizing Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement as constructive and positive.
