Trump Says He Wants Role in Choosing Iran’s Next Leader

Date:

Washington, USA – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to play a personal role in selecting Iran’s next leadership following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in recent U.S. and Israeli strikes.

In an interview with international media, Trump stated that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader, is not an acceptable choice for Iran’s leadership. He emphasized that Iran requires a leader who will promote peace and stability rather than escalating tensions.

Trump further compared his intended involvement in Iran to his prior engagement in Venezuelan political affairs, suggesting that a strong hardline leadership in Tehran could reignite regional conflict and heighten the risk of war.

The selection process for Iran’s new leadership is underway, involving consultations among religious and political circles, with Mojtaba Khamenei emerging as a prominent contender. Mojtaba is known for his close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and religious leadership credentials.

Trump stressed that U.S. engagement is crucial to ensure the emergence of a moderate and stable leadership in Iran to safeguard regional security.
