Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei says Tehran is continuing to exchange messages with Washington, with Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi visiting Doha to facilitate diplomatic efforts.
TEHRAN, IRAN — WEB DESK: ran has said its seven-step proposal forms the basis for diplomatic engagement with the United States, expressing the possibility that the framework could be implemented in the coming days.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran was continuing to exchange messages with Washington despite ongoing disagreements between the two countries.
According to Reuters, Baghaei said there was a possibility of implementing the proposal in the coming days, although he did not indicate that an agreement had been finalised.
Iran confirms continued diplomatic communication
Baghaei said exchanges of messages between Iran and the United States were continuing through diplomatic channels.
He also confirmed that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi had visited Doha to facilitate the diplomatic process.
Qatar has played a role in regional mediation efforts, providing a channel for communication between Tehran and Washington.
The latest remarks indicate that diplomatic contacts remain active as both sides explore the possibility of moving forward with negotiations.
Tehran does not expect change in US approach
The Iranian spokesperson also addressed the possibility of a shift in Washington’s policy following the US midterm elections.
Baghaei said Tehran did not expect a new US administration or a change in the American government’s approach after the elections.
His remarks suggest that Iran is approaching the diplomatic process on the basis of its existing assessment of US policy rather than anticipating a major political shift in Washington.
Seven-step proposal remains central to negotiations
Iran’s seven-step proposal remains the stated basis for its diplomatic engagement with the United States.
However, Baghaei’s comments did not establish that Washington had accepted the framework or agreed to its implementation.
The possibility of progress in the coming days will depend on continued communication and whether both sides can address their outstanding differences.
For now, Tehran says diplomatic exchanges are continuing, with Qatar remaining an important channel in the process.
