Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly contradicted his own Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, rejecting claims that Israel pushed the United States into a conflict with Iran.
In remarks to the media, Trump said the United States was not dragged into war by Israel. Instead, he claimed personal responsibility for backing Israel’s actions against Iran, stating that if anything occurred, it was because he encouraged Israel to take action.
Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio had suggested that Israel was preparing to strike Iran and that there were concerns Tehran could retaliate by targeting U.S. troops in the region. Rubio said the United States acted preemptively amid fears of escalation.
The differing accounts sparked political debate in Washington. Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro said Rubio’s remarks amounted to an acknowledgment that the U.S. had been drawn into war by Israel.
Meanwhile, Iran’s National Security Secretary Ali Larijani had earlier stated that Tehran did not seek to initiate conflict, saying Iran had not started a war for centuries and had no intention of doing so now.
The conflicting statements come amid heightened U.S.-Iran tensions, with regional security, military operations, and diplomatic fallout dominating global headlines.
