Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan is facing a power shortfall of 4,000 megawatts, leading to extended and unannounced load shedding across major cities as rising temperatures increase electricity demand.
According to officials, the national electricity deficit has resulted in prolonged power outages in several urban and rural areas, severely affecting daily life.
In Karachi, multiple areas are experiencing up to 10 hours of electricity outages. In Rawalpindi, residents are facing 8 to 10 hours of load shedding, making daily routines increasingly difficult.
The federal capital Islamabad is witnessing around 6 hours of power cuts, while parts of Lahore are experiencing outages lasting 5 to 6 hours.
In Peshawar, urban areas reported up to 6 hours of load shedding, while suburban regions faced disruptions of up to 14 hours.
The Ministry of Energy has also included industrial sectors in load shedding measures and is reportedly considering restarting idle power plants to stabilize supply.
Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari has announced plans to reduce load shedding starting today, though the extent of improvement remains to be seen.
