New York, United States – Web Desk: Pakistan has called for the safety of ships and crew, as well as the restoration of normal maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy and trade routes.
Speaking at the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmed described the Strait of Hormuz as a vital international shipping passage for the transport of goods and energy supplies.
He said the situation in the Strait is negatively affecting countries around the world, including Pakistan, and is also impacting ordinary citizens due to disruptions in global trade and energy flows.
The Pakistani envoy warned that continued military tensions and restrictions in the area could further worsen the situation. He emphasized that any discussions or arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz must take into account the legitimate interests of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
Pakistan reiterated its call for ensuring safe navigation, maritime security, and the uninterrupted flow of international shipping through the strategic waterway.
