US Embassy in Pakistan marks 250 years of US independence

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The United States Mission in Pakistan hosted a grand ceremony titled “Freedom 250” on Saturday evening to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, highlighting long-standing ties between Pakistan and the United States.

The event celebrated 250 years of American democracy and paid tribute to the enduring partnership between the two countries, emphasizing shared values, mutual respect, and a commitment to a more secure and prosperous future.

Dignitaries from various sectors of Pakistani society attended the ceremony, including government officials, business leaders, civil society representatives, academics, and cultural figures. The event reflected the depth and breadth of Pakistan–US relations.

In her keynote address, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker described “Freedom 250” as not only a milestone in American history but also a celebration of shared democratic values that bring the two nations closer. She noted that the United States was also marking 80 years of friendship with Pakistan.

The ceremony featured a color guard presentation by the US Marine Corps, followed by the national anthems of both countries. A musical performance by the US Air Force Central Command Band added to the celebration, which concluded with a fireworks display lighting up the Islamabad sky.

“Freedom 250” is part of year-long global commemorations by US diplomatic missions marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The initiative was launched under the theme of a renewed era of American strength and global engagement.
