Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Diplomatic and defence experts say a second round of US-Iran talks is unlikely unless tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz ease, highlighting growing uncertainty over ongoing negotiations.
Speaking on Geo News programme “Capital Talk,” former Pakistan Permanent Representative to the United Nations and former President of the UN Security Council Munir Akram said that a ceasefire between the United States and Iran appears more likely than a formal agreement.
Separately, former Pakistan ambassador to Iran Asif Durrani and defence analyst Major General (retd) Zahid Mahmood suggested that statements by US President Donald Trump indicate possible insider trading concerns, though no evidence was provided.
Experts collectively noted that progress in negotiations remains constrained due to continued strategic tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route. They added that without resolution of maritime access and security issues, further diplomatic rounds would remain difficult.
