Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Russia has expressed support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts in facilitating ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran, stressing that continued dialogue is essential for any potential agreement.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with a Russian newspaper, said Moscow strongly supports ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly initiatives involving Pakistan as a mediator.
Lavrov said that any future agreement must take into account not only Iran’s interests but also the security and political concerns of neighboring countries in order to achieve long-term stability in the region.
He noted that the United States itself recognizes the seriousness of the current tensions with Iran but has struggled to adopt a clear and effective strategy to resolve the crisis.
The Russian foreign minister further said that responsibility for the escalation lies largely with past U.S. policies that have contributed to mistrust and heightened regional instability.
Lavrov added that countries including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are also playing roles in facilitating diplomatic engagement, reflecting broad regional interest in a peaceful resolution.
He emphasized that uninterrupted negotiations are crucial, stating that sustained dialogue remains the only viable path toward de-escalation and a mutually acceptable settlement.
