Web Desk: An unexpected technical malfunction at a FIFA World Cup match between Iraq and Norway caused a temporary disruption after a sprinkler system suddenly flooded part of the pitch during half-time.
According to match reports, a sprinkler near the goal area began ejecting water forcefully, quickly turning the surface into a waterlogged patch. The incident occurred in the same section where Norway’s star striker Erling Haaland had scored twice in the first half.
While other irrigation systems continued functioning normally, ground authorities shut down the entire watering system as a precaution to prevent further damage.
Stadium maintenance staff rushed onto the field immediately, working to repair the affected area. Buckets and equipment were used to redistribute excess water across the pitch in an effort to maintain balance and playability.
Officials confirmed that the issue was resolved before the start of the second half, allowing the match to resume without further interruption.
