Abu Dhabi, UAE – Web Desk: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) successfully intercepted six Iranian ballistic missiles and 125 drones targeting its territory, officials said, amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, the country’s air defense systems destroyed six of the seven missiles in midair. Of 131 drones launched, 125 were neutralized, while debris from six drones fell inside UAE territory, injuring six Pakistani nationals. Authorities confirmed the injured sustained minor to moderate wounds and are in stable condition.
UAE officials emphasized that no fatalities or significant property damage occurred from the missile or drone debris. Citizens were urged to rely on official channels for updates and avoid spreading unverified information.
The strikes come in the wake of heightened U.S.-Iran-Israel conflict. On February 28, coordinated attacks on Iran resulted in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s family members, Iran’s defense minister, army chief, national security advisor, and IRGC commander. Following these operations, Iran began targeting U.S. military bases and installations across the Gulf, which have so far resulted in six confirmed U.S. military casualties.
The UAE’s successful interception highlights the ongoing volatility in the Gulf and the heightened risk to regional security and expatriate populations.
