Turkey School Shooting: 4 Students, Teacher Killed

Date:

Kahramanmaraş, Turkey – Web Desk: A second school shooting in two days in Turkey has left at least one teacher and three students dead, with around 20 others injured, including four in critical condition, according to officials.

The incident took place at a middle school in the Kahramanmaraş province of southeastern Turkey, where a gunman entered the premises and opened fire, Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer said.

Authorities identified the attacker as an 8th-grade student who allegedly carried five firearms and seven magazines into the school, reportedly belonging to his father, a former police officer. The attacker opened fire inside classrooms where younger students were present, resulting in multiple casualties.

Officials said the gunman later died by suicide after the attack. Emergency services transported the injured students to hospital, where several are undergoing surgery.

Reports indicate that victims included fifth-grade students aged around 10 to 11, while the attacker was believed to be around 13 to 14 years old, based on typical school age ranges in Turkey.

The shooting comes just one day after another school attack in southeastern Turkey’s Şanlıurfa province, where 17 people were injured, raising growing concerns over school security and firearm access in the country.

Investigations are ongoing.
