Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump said he hopes Israel will not launch a retaliatory strike after Iran fired missiles toward Israel in response to recent attacks on Beirut.
Speaking to journalist Barak Ravid, Trump said the Iranian missile attack had not caused casualties and urged Tehran to return to negotiations. He said the United States remains on alert and encouraged both sides to avoid further escalation.
Trump also expressed concern over Israel’s recent strikes on Beirut, saying he was not pleased with the attacks and intended to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Trump, he would urge Netanyahu to avoid a military response that could further inflame tensions in the region.
The U.S. president said Washington and Tehran had been close to reaching a final agreement before the latest developments threatened to derail diplomatic efforts.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military said Iran launched missiles toward Israeli territory and that its air defense systems were working to intercept the incoming projectiles.
Following the missile attack, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the strike served as a warning and cautioned that any further aggression would be met with a broader response. The IRGC stated that ballistic missiles targeted the Ramat David Airbase and accused the United States and Israel of failing to uphold commitments linked to a ceasefire.
The IRGC also warned that continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon could lead to more severe consequences, including attacks on U.S. and Israeli interests across the region.
The exchange marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, raising concerns about the risk of a wider Middle East conflict.
