MEXICO CITY – Web Desk: The Iranian football team participating in the FIFA World Cup has been denied permission to stay in the United States, according to international media reports.

The Iranian team will travel from Mexico to the US on match days and return to Mexico after playing their matches. Iran’s team has arrived in Tijuana, Mexico, for their training base camp, while their matches are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles and Seattle. The flight from Tijuana to Los Angeles takes 45 minutes to one hour, while the flight to Seattle is approximately five and a half hours.

Iran’s first match is against New Zealand on June 15. The team was issued US visas three days ago, but Mehdi Taj, head of Iran’s Football Federation, and several other key members have yet to receive their visas.
