Pakistan Rejects Amnesty Report, Warns of Afghan Terror Threat at UN

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has rejected an Amnesty International report as “completely baseless” and warned that the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan poses a serious threat to regional security, the Foreign Office said on Thursday .

Afghan Terror Threat

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that no responsible state can remain silent when its citizens are targeted, and Pakistan has responded “in a measured manner” to threats emanating from Afghanistan, targeting only terrorist infrastructure . He added that Amnesty International had failed to highlight the real causes of the situation in Afghanistan .

Middle East and Regional Diplomacy

Pakistan condemned Houthi militia threats against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, reaffirming support for Saudi sovereignty . Andrabi said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for de-escalation are ongoing, with the Iranian interior minister visiting Pakistan in this context .

Bilateral Engagements

The spokesperson detailed Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s engagements in Manila, including meetings with the Russian, Australian, Bangladeshi, and Egyptian foreign ministers. Dar is set to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Bishkek . Pakistan also signed cooperation agreements with Canada in agriculture, trade, and investment .

US-Pakistan Tariff Talks

On trade, Andrabi said Pakistan-US tariff negotiations are ongoing and the matter has not yet been resolved .

Kashmir and Palestine

Pakistan will continue to raise its voice on human rights in occupied Kashmir, Andrabi said, adding that India is obligated to ensure human rights as the occupying power. He also noted that Pakistan is monitoring the Palestine situation, with foreign ministers of eight Muslim countries in contact .
