Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has confirmed that former U.S. President Donald Trump will undertake a state visit to Beijing from May 13 to May 15, where he is expected to hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is taking place at the invitation of President Xi. The discussions are expected to focus on key global issues, including the situation in Iran, ongoing trade tensions, Taiwan, and broader geopolitical developments.
Reports suggest that Trump is likely to use the visit to increase diplomatic pressure on China regarding its purchases of Iranian crude oil, as Beijing remains one of the largest importers of Iranian energy while Washington continues to tighten economic restrictions on Tehran.
White House officials have described the trip as a significant diplomatic and symbolic engagement, noting that the former president is also expected to pursue new trade agreements and economic cooperation frameworks benefiting the United States.
This will be Trump’s first visit to China during his second presidential term. The trip was initially expected earlier in the year but was postponed due to escalating tensions linked to the Iran conflict.
During the visit, Trump is also scheduled to tour Beijing’s historic Temple of Heaven and attend an official state banquet in his honor. It will mark the first visit by a U.S. president to China since 2017.
