Seoul, South Korea – Web Desk: South Korea and France have agreed to enhance their defense cooperation, officials confirmed following a high-level meeting between the two countries’ leaders.
The agreement comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, which have affected global energy markets and security dynamics. Both countries pledged to increase joint military exercises, share defense technology, and collaborate in weapons development.
The leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in aerospace, security, and advanced defense capabilities. Protection of strategic maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, was highlighted as a priority in the agreement.
Beyond defense, Seoul and Paris plan to expand collaboration in nuclear energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, wind energy, and critical minerals. Analysts say the deal strengthens strategic ties between Europe and Asia, positioning South Korea as a major defense exporter while expanding France’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
This comprehensive partnership reflects the growing need for international security cooperation and technological collaboration amid ongoing global uncertainties.
