MUMBAI – Web Desk: Bollywood star Salman Khan has filed a lawsuit against the producers of the upcoming film “Kala Harn” (Blackbuck), accusing them of violating his personality rights, according to Indian media reports.
Khan sent a legal notice to the film’s makers demanding an immediate halt to the film’s release and promotion. The notice was issued to casting director Akshay Pandey, alleging that the film project is connected to Khan’s 1998 blackbuck poaching case. According to the notice, Khan has neither permitted nor consented to the use of his name, image, or any depiction resembling the incident.
The actor’s legal team stated that creating such a character is defamatory in itself and could influence ongoing judicial proceedings currently pending before the Rajasthan High Court. The notice further stated that the film could violate Khan’s fundamental right to a fair trial and potentially prejudice the case.
Film director Bharat S. Shrinith and producer Amit Jani have denied the allegations, claiming the legal notice is an attempt to harass the production team. The filmmakers recently released a poster for “Kala Harn” featuring a character who bears a striking resemblance to Khan — holding a gun and wearing Khan’s signature turquoise bracelet — and have announced plans to release a trailer on June 20. They claim the film is inspired by real-life legal and judicial events.
