After attacks on children, Punjab authorities raid private farms, confiscating 59 big cats
Lahore, Pakistan | Web Desk: Punjab wildlife authorities launched a major crackdown after two children were injured in separate tiger and lion attacks in Lahore. Over the past week, raids in Lahore, Multan, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sialkot resulted in the seizure of 59 lions and tigers from private breeding farms, with owners arrested for violating wildlife regulations.
In Lahore, a raid at a farmhouse on Bediya Road led to the confiscation of over 20 lions and tigers, with suspects Fayyaz alias Faizi and three accomplices taken into custody. In Multan, nine lions and a monkey were seized from an unlicensed breeding farm near Askari Bypass, leading to the arrest of the owner, Waqas. Similar operations in Jhelum, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sialkot resulted in multiple arrests and the safe relocation of the animals.
Chief Wildlife Ranger Punjab Mubeen Ilahi directed strict action following recent attacks, emphasizing public safety and the enforcement of wildlife management standards. Authorities continue operations across the province to secure illegally held big cats.
