PPP Worker Killed in Nakial Firing During AJK Polling

Date:

A Pakistan Peoples Party worker was killed and three others injured after firing broke out between PPP and PML-N supporters during polling in Nakial, Azad Kashmir.

Nakial, Azad Kashmir – Web Desk: A worker of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was killed and three other people were injured on Monday after firing erupted between PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporters during polling in the Nakial constituency of Azad Kashmir.

According to reports, the clash took place in Dhiri village in Nakial, where workers of the two rival parties came face to face at a polling site. As tensions escalated, gunfire broke out, killing PPP worker Mukhtar Younis on the spot and leaving three others wounded. Tension has persisted in the area since the incident, and relevant authorities are investigating the matter.

Sardar Abdul Shakoor, in-charge of the PPP Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Cell, alleged that Mukhtar Younis, son of Kamran, was killed amid incidents of arms display and intimidation of the public allegedly carried out by PML-N candidate for constituency LA-9 Nakial, Sardar Umair Naeem, and his associates. Express News could not independently verify this allegation.

Sardar Abdul Shakoor demanded that all individuals involved in the incident be arrested immediately, that law and order be restored in the area, and that the protection of voters’ lives and property be ensured.

He further claimed that a video showing Sardar Umair Naeem and his companions brandishing weapons and intimidating people had surfaced a few days earlier. He said that had the relevant authorities taken timely action at that point, Monday’s incident could have been avoided.

Sardar Abdul Shakoor called on the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the district administration, and law enforcement agencies to immediately investigate the incident and take strict legal action against those responsible, so that the electoral process could be completed in a peaceful environment.

There has been no independent confirmation of the allegations made against the PML-N candidate, and authorities have not yet issued an official statement identifying those responsible for the firing. This report will be updated as further verified details emerge.
