Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a strict directive prohibiting cricketers from posting on social media without prior approval from its media department, sources said.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the move comes as part of efforts to ensure compliance with central contract obligations and maintain discipline within the national setup. Players have been formally warned that any violation of the guidelines could result in serious consequences.
Sources added that all cricketers have been instructed to adhere strictly to the terms of their central contracts, particularly regarding public communication and digital conduct. Team managers have also been briefed on the updated guidelines to ensure enforcement across all levels.
The board has made it clear that political content shared by players will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any controversial or unauthorized post could lead to heavy financial penalties, with fines reportedly reaching up to Rs10 million.
The decision reflects a broader trend among cricket boards worldwide to regulate players’ online presence amid growing scrutiny of athletes’ public statements and digital influence.
