Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have urged Iran to exercise restraint and prudence amid rising tensions across the Middle East, warning that further escalation could threaten regional stability and security.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Asim Munir met with Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman during an official visit to Saudi Arabia to discuss the deteriorating security situation in the region.
The meeting focused on recent Iranian drone and missile threats targeting the Kingdom and the need for coordinated measures to address security challenges under the framework of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement.
Both sides emphasized that unprovoked aggression could undermine ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining regional peace and stability.
“It was emphasised that unprovoked aggression undermines efforts for regional security and stability and forecloses options for peaceful settlement of disputes,” the ISPR statement said.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expressed hope that Iran would demonstrate “prudence and sagacity” in the current crisis to avoid miscalculations that could worsen the conflict.
The two countries also reiterated their commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts and strengthening cooperation to ensure regional security while encouraging a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
The meeting comes at a time of heightened tensions across the Middle East, where escalating military actions and retaliatory strikes have raised fears of a wider regional conflict affecting global security and energy markets.
