Terrorism and Extremism Undermine Social Harmony and Economic Development: Faisal Karim Kundi

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Faisal Karim Kundi has warned that terrorism and extremism pose serious threats not only to security but also to social harmony and economic development.

During a visit to the headquarters of the Sustainable Social Development Organisation in Islamabad, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to counter terrorism, terror financing, and violent extremism.

He said that terrorism is not solely a security challenge but also undermines public trust in state institutions, disrupts social cohesion, and slows economic progress. He stressed that law enforcement actions alone are not sufficient to address the growing challenges.

Kundi called for stronger policy-making, institutional coordination, and active community participation to ensure long-term peace and stability. He also highlighted the importance of a “whole-of-government” approach involving federal, provincial, and local institutions.

The governor further stressed a “whole-of-society” strategy, urging engagement from civil society, educational institutions, religious scholars, media, youth, women, and local communities to counter extremist narratives.

He praised collaborative efforts aimed at awareness building, policy dialogue, and evidence-based decision-making, saying such initiatives help strengthen national resilience against evolving security threats.

Kundi added that sustained cooperation and collective action are essential to build a safer and more prosperous future and to protect future generations from extremist ideologies.
