Pakistan Issues Tenders for Two LNG Cargoes for May Supply

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has issued tenders for the procurement of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes for delivery in May, as the country moves to secure energy supplies amid rising demand.

According to sources in the Petroleum Division, Pakistan LNG Limited has invited bids from international suppliers for the two spot LNG cargoes. Global energy firms have been given a deadline of May 7 to submit their offers, which will be opened the same day.

The first LNG cargo is scheduled for delivery between May 12 and 14, while the second cargo is expected to arrive between May 24 and 26, the sources added.

The move comes as Pakistan continues efforts to stabilize its energy sector and ensure uninterrupted gas supply, particularly for power generation.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari had stated that LNG shipments had already been received, helping to ease electricity load management issues across the country.

Energy analysts say timely procurement of LNG is critical for maintaining grid stability and avoiding power shortages, especially during peak demand periods.
