Oil prices lower despite fresh exchanges of US-Iran strikes

Date:

Global oil prices edged lower on Wednesday despite renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran, as investors appeared to view the latest escalation as unlikely to significantly disrupt global crude supplies.

London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: According to market data, Brent crude fell 1.2% to $83.74 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slipped 0.8% to $78.69 per barrel as of 1530 GMT.

The decline came even after US forces launched another round of strikes on targets in Iran and President Donald Trump reimposed a naval blockade on ships traveling to and from Iranian ports.

Patrick O’Hare, an analyst at Briefing.com, said oil markets remain supported by expectations that President Trump’s strong rhetoric is primarily a negotiating tactic rather than a signal of military action aimed at destroying Iran’s oil infrastructure.

Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, traders continue to monitor developments in the Strait of Hormuz and assess their potential impact on global energy supplies.
