Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has intensified diplomatic efforts to secure the release of Pakistani crew members being held aboard a Somali vessel, officials said on Monday.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss measures aimed at ensuring the safe and early release of the detained crew.

The maritime minister also contacted Somalia’s ambassador to Pakistan, stressing the need to accelerate efforts for the crew’s prompt and secure return.

According to officials, the discussions focused on strengthening diplomatic coordination and exploring all available channels to resolve the issue.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said humanitarian efforts began immediately after authorities were informed of the incident in April. He added that Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Somali Embassy have remained in continuous contact regarding the matter.

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of Pakistani nationals abroad and pledged to continue diplomatic engagement until the crew members are safely released.
