Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A tense situation developed on Tuesday when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was stopped by Islamabad police at 26 Number Chungi while attempting to visit former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to reports, the KP chief minister had a heated exchange with police officials after being denied passage. He reportedly demanded the route be opened, questioning the restriction and strongly reacting to the blockade.
Supporters accompanying him raised slogans during the confrontation, while police had placed containers and barriers at the site, causing significant disruption to traffic flow. Commuters, including airport travelers, faced severe delays, and long queues were reported on the motorway.
Authorities had already imposed restrictions around Adiala Jail, declaring it a red zone and prohibiting gatherings, rallies, or protests under Section 144. Officials warned that violations would be dealt with strictly under the law.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that no family member or party leader managed to reach Adiala Jail for the scheduled meeting with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. A list of intended visitors included several senior PTI figures, but none arrived at the facility.
The situation comes amid heightened political tensions, with earlier warnings from KP leadership regarding access restrictions for meetings at the jail.
