CM Suhail Afridi calls refusal “shameful,” urges transparency on PTI leader’s health

Peshawar, Pakistan – Web Desk: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi has expressed deep concern over being denied permission to meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan, calling it “extremely shameful and inhumane.”

Speaking to PTI Deputy Secretary Information Shaukat Yousafzai at KP House, Islamabad, Afridi highlighted that as the elected CM of over 4.5 crore people, he was forced to wait for hours outside Adiala Jail. He emphasized that the entire nation is anxious about Khan’s health and urged authorities to allow family and officials access, describing the denial as a serious violation of human rights.

Afridi criticized the federal government’s governance, citing inflation, unemployment, and lack of cooperation with KP on provincial development. He reiterated that despite federal obstacles, the province continues to pursue development and vowed to maintain peaceful political struggle for democracy and constitutional restoration.

Shaukat Yousafzai condemned the government’s treatment of Khan, alleging secretive hospitalization at night and a lack of prior notification to the family, calling it a breach of legal and human rights standards. PTI leaders discussed a potential peaceful protest on 8 February, Khan’s health, and national and provincial political affairs during the meeting, with KP Information Minister Shafi Jan also present.
