Trump Says Second Round of Iran Talks May Begin Friday

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that a second round of negotiations with Iran could take place as early as Friday, signaling potential progress in ongoing diplomatic efforts.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said there was “good news” regarding the next phase of talks, adding that significant developments could emerge within 36 to 72 hours. He also emphasized that Pakistan continues to play a key mediating role in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

Trump stated that he has instructed the U.S. military to maintain its blockade measures while remaining prepared for all possible scenarios. He noted that the ceasefire would remain in place until Iran presents concrete proposals for a long-term resolution.

Earlier, the U.S. president had announced an extension of the ceasefire following requests from Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, he reiterated that the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would remain in effect.

In a separate statement on social media, Trump said the United States had paused attacks at Pakistan’s request, adding that the ceasefire extension would continue until Iran submits its proposals. He also described the Iranian government as “weak and divided,” while maintaining that military preparedness remains in place.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the extension of the ceasefire and thanked the U.S. president, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to pursuing a negotiated resolution and continuing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
