Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: The chairman of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the Israeli state-owned company behind the Iron Dome air defense system, has claimed that the system achieved a success rate of approximately 99 percent in intercepting incoming projectiles.
Speaking at a conference hosted by the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, Yuval Steinitz said that following the October 2023 attacks by Hamas, both Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon fired an estimated 40,000 rockets toward Israel.
He stated that the Iron Dome intercepted the majority of those rockets, describing its effectiveness as “not 100 percent, but very close—around 98 or even 99 percent.” He added that while the system is not perfect, it is “almost flawless.”
Steinitz further said that since 2024, Iran has launched around 1,500 ballistic missiles at Israel during two separate rounds of escalation, with only a small number reportedly bypassing Israel’s air defense systems.
He also claimed that Israel is not currently facing shortages of missile interceptor supplies.
