TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that no Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed yet between Iran and the United States, and the proposed agreement is still under discussion with possible changes, though all details will be made public once finalized.
Speaking to Iranian media, Araghchi said the proposed MOU would consist of 14 points, with nuclear matters deferred to later stages as US nuclear demands are currently unacceptable to Iran. He emphasized that Iran will never abandon Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the proposed agreement will include clauses to end the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Araghchi claimed that Iran emerged victorious in the war against the US and has become stronger than before. He said a ceasefire on all fronts — including Lebanon — will be announced under an interim agreement. The lifting of US sanctions and blockade, along with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, will also be part of the interim agreement.
The Foreign Minister noted that parties like Israel oppose any potential agreement, but Iran will not bow to US pressure or threats. Ending the war in Lebanon would mean Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories. If the interim agreement — a first step toward confidence-building — is not implemented, nuclear negotiations cannot proceed.
Araghchi stated that the pre-war administrative situation in the Strait of Hormuz will not be restored, though Iran will ensure safe passage for vessels. The only solution to Iran’s uranium stockpile issue is reducing enrichment levels. Iran and Oman’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz remains, and Iran will always be ready to protect its interests in this vital waterway.
