TEHRAN – Web Desk: A potential agreement between the United States and Iran is expected to be signed on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian, France, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry sources.
The G7 leaders’ summit will be held from June 15-17 in Évian. A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that if no attempts are made to sabotage the peace process and the current situation holds, the agreement could be signed as early as June 14 — one day before the summit. Geneva has been agreed upon as the signing location.
Iran is expected to be represented by chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US may be represented by Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. A high-level delegation from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry will also attend as a key mediator.
The G7 summit will address the Middle East situation, with the UK and France reportedly planning to present a European-led plan to clear alleged mines from the Strait of Hormuz, requiring US support. Iran has denied planting any mines in the waterway. The G7 summit will also cover geopolitical challenges, Ukraine, European peace and security, international partnerships, global economic growth, and the future of artificial intelligence.
